What are the specific topics?

A day will be spent examining each of genocide generally, the Armenian Genocide, the Holocaust, the Rwandan Genocide, and Darfur. 

What is the format of the day?

There are four 45-minute sessions in the morning and four 45-minute sessions in the afternoon.  Sessions are a combination of multimedia presentations, discussions, and group work.  There is plenty of time to ask questions and exchange ideas.  Morning sessions focus on theory and history, while afternoon sessions focus on pedagogy and classroom implementation.

Who are the instructors?

The instructors are some of Canada's and the world's most renowned scholars and genocide and long-time educators of genocide.  Among the instructors is Major Brent Beardsley, the right-hand man of Lieutenant-General Romeo Dallaire, the Force Commander of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda preceding and during the genocide in 1994.

What resources do teachers receive?

Teachers receive films and several key texts to begin a library of their own.

Are accommodations really provided for out-of-province teachers?

Accommodations for the Sunday through Thursday nights are provided for out-of-province teachers.

Is food available?

Teachers will be able to purchase a lunch and dinner on their own.
